AMC-SME 2023

Advanced Multimedia Computing for Smart Manufacturing and Engineering
Co-located with ACM MM 2023, Oct 29 – Nov 3, 2023 , Ottawa, Canada

Scope and Topics

Towards smart manufacturing and industrial upgrading, various kinds of engineering software and digitalized equipment are widely applied throughout the lifecycle of industrial products. These systems use intelligent sensory devices to add multimedia information to people's perceived reality through sights (e.g. spot lenses on the retina), sounds (headphones), or touch (gloves). As a result, massive multimedia data of different types are being produced. Making full use of these multimedia data can provide real-time information to improve workflow and decision-making.

Advanced industry multimedia computing technologies dedicates to the analysis, understanding, management, and query of industry multimedia data such as digital video, digital image, and digital audio. Some key topics include audio content understanding and search, computer music information processing and music semantic information mining, voice recognition, speech recognition and understanding, image content analysis, understanding and search, neural network algorithm optimization and combinatorial optimization problem solving, etc. With the help of advanced industry multimedia computing methods, we are able to discover new patterns and knowledge from complex sensor datasets, and to extract novel valuable information, which can promote product innovation, improves operation level and production operation efficiency of manufacturing enterprises, and expand novel business models.

With the development of new-generation information and digitalization technologies, more industry multimedia data can be collected, and it is time to find a way for the deep application of all these data. While extensive efforts have been made and influenced many aspects of the industry, the complex and unstructured characteristics of industry data bring up more challenges.
